The thesis proposes a hybridization and evolution of the Madrasa and Caravanserai topologies for a secular, interdisciplinary school and maker space. Located in Taksim Square, the project aims to become an educational/ artistic hub for a growing eclectic Istanbul. Istanbul’s history is vast and rich. Having accumulated a wealth of culture and diversity over time, the project saw this opportunity to investigate Istanbul’s growth and to develop a contemporary architectural typology that reflected the city’s past and current values, empowering learning opportunities and strengthening identity among divided Istanbulians.  The site was chosen carefully as it has been a key symbol of strength and resilience among its people and is geographically located at the intersection of neighborhoods of different social status. As a response, the project aimed to open oportunities for people of all status through an educational and artisitc building program, unifying a divided city.
